Organisations and people

Organisations are the structure behind access. People belong to organisations, and event access is easier to manage when that structure is clean.

Organisation records show the people count and whether you can manage the organisation.

Create organisations

Use organisations for customers, partners, emergency services, suppliers, and internal teams. Set the parent organisation when one organisation sits under another.

Keep names recognisable to the people using the system. "North Gate Security" is better than "Supplier 3".

Manage people

Open an organisation and select People.

The people page separates active members, invitations, and inactive memberships.

People management includes:

  • active members;
  • invitations;
  • inactive memberships;
  • member role and work email details.

Invite someone

Use Invite Person to create a join link for the person's email address. Nexus stores the invitation and can show a shareable link.

note

The invitation link is not an authentication credential. The user still signs in through the configured identity flow.

Add an existing user

If the person already has a Nexus user record, use Add Existing User. This avoids sending a fresh invite when the account already exists.

Choose organisation roles

Use organisation roles for what someone can do within that organisation. Use event access for what they can do at a show. Keeping those separate prevents a supplier manager from automatically becoming a controller for every event.
